To achieve its mission of promoting and supporting fact-based, bipartisan, in-depth oversight, we offer intensive training sessions on how to conduct oversight investigations. Find out more about our boot camps, clerk training, online tutorials, and extensive congressional oversight resources.
Our congressional training sessions are available online and in person in a variety of formats and lengths. All sessions seek to bring together Republican, Democratic and nonpartisan congressional staff to produce a bipartisan or nonpartisan oversight experience. To date, over 265 congressional staff and 70 congressional clerks have undergone instruction on how to do fact-based, bipartisan, in-depth investigations.
Online Tutorials
Experienced investigators offer advice in 5 to 10 minute segments on how to conduct effective congressional oversight investigations. Boot Camps
A collaboration between the Levin Center, the Project On Government Oversight (POGO), and The Lugar Center, our “Oversight Boot Camps” offer two-day, intensive training sessions for congressional staff on how to conduct oversight investigations. Each boot camp combines staff from the U.S. House and Senate, committees and personal offices, and the Democratic and Republican parties to produce a bipartisan, bicameral experience.
Clerk Training
We offer an annual two-hour training session for congressional clerks to strengthen their ability to provide administrative support for oversight investigations. The session is open to clerks from the U.S. House and Senate, committees and subcommittees, and the Democratic and Republican parties to produce a bipartisan, bicameral experience.
Congressional Oversight Resources
To foster high-quality oversight investigations, we offer not only a variety of training formats, but also educational, and background resources. These materials include a list of oversight partners, key laws and OLC opinions, oversight manuals, books, articles and panels, Levin Center testimonies, and a comprehensive summary of oversight case law.
